Opal Rose - The SiteHello, and welcome to the new and improved (and therefore paradoxical) Opal Rose Gallery: my little corner of the net. This site will be mainly intended as way of displaying my artistic endeavours to those who wish to see them :) I have decided against including a blog; I am notorious for my inability to blog regularly, but if you are interested in reading occasional ramblings I refer you to the Links page. This site will be growing constantly - please check the News area for details on recent changes, works in progress, and new pieces. I hope you enjoy exploring my humble gallery and please feel free to leave a comment :) Onward!
The ArtistAn 18-year old girl who likes to pick up a pencil on occasion, the artist is UK-based, answers to the name of Jemima and is always trying to improve her work. She also enjoys ballroom dancing, reading, and playing the piano and saxophone in her spare time, and has a passion for Tudor history.
The ArtPastel is usually my preferred medium, although I do paint and draw as well. I tend to be drawn to dramatic styles, hence the frequent of use of pastels on black paper in my work, and the use of subjects such as dancers or nudes in dramatic poses with strong lighting. For more information on artists whom I admire, please see the Links page. More detailed information on each piece is presented in the Gallery.
"The purpose of art is not a rarified, intellectual distillate – it is life, intensified, brilliant life." - Alain Arias-Misson
